2007 Albero Monastrell - $6.99

I think I got a pretty good pose for the camera out of this bottle/glass of wine. Nice lighting, some soap in the background... you know, the usual. As for the liquid itself, it went back to TJ's, classified as undrinkable. This happens every time I muster up the courage to try another organic wine. Catch me in six months and maybe I'll feel differently, but for now I'm putting organic wine on notice.

thumbs down - 58

  1. I have to agree on this one. I drink Monastrell (called Mouvedre in France and USA) as often as I can find a good one; this is not a good one. Juan Gill with the silver label is excellent, and runs about $12 at Costco in California (can be found elsewhere.) There are other good Jumilla Monastrells, but the bottom price for decent ones is around $8-$9 in California, which has lower prices than most of the country.

  2. I totally agree, I've never had a good organic wine! What is up with that?!

  3. Jason pointed me to an article from The Oregonian which gives a couple caveats for organic wines... namely that they've had better luck with wines that are made from organic grapes. I remain skeptical.

  4. I have to disagree....I love organic wines, however, I I do believe that the more expensive bottles are the ones to go with. You get what you pay for.

  5. Wynona, do you have any recommendations for organic wines from Trader Joe's?
